SHU Finishes Season Opening CCSU Invite in Third

WETHERSFIELD, CT (September 11, 2011) - The Sacred Heart men's golf team shot a team score of 298 on Sunday to finish third in the Central Connecticut Blue Devil Invitational, wrapping up the first weekend of competition this fall. The Pioneers finished with a team score of 584, finishing behind Laval University, 572, and host CCSU, 580.
Junior Josh Salah (Gloucester, MA) was the Pioneers top-finisher, shooting a 73 on Sunday. Salah totalled a two-round score of 142 to finish in a three-way tie for the individual title after 36-holes with Charles Cote of Laval and Daniel Morgan of Central. Morgan took home the individual championship trophy after winning in a playoff. Salah and Cote tied for second overall at the event.
Senior Brad Neudorf (Virgil, Ontario) was tied for 10th overall with a two day score of 146. Neudorf, seniors Joseph Serrantino (Cromwell, CT) and Taylor Griffin (Torrington, CT) all carded 75's on Sunday. Serrantino finished tied for 15th with a 147 and Griffin was 20th with a 149.
The Pioneers are next in action at the St. John's Invitational at the Bethpage Red Course in Farmingdale, NY on September 16th and 17th.
