Women's Golf in Fourth Place After Opening Round Of SHU Fall Classic

MILFORD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart women's golf team completed the first round of the SHU Fall Classic Sunday in fourth place at Great River Golf Club in Milford. Senior Jennifer Clinton (Sayville, N.Y.) found herself in a tie for fifth individually after 18 holes.
Clinton carded an opening round 78 on the par-72 course, putting herself one stroke back of three golfers tied for second. Ellen Nighbor (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) posted an opening round score of 81 to place in a tie for 12th. Kelsey Hayward (Seekonk, Mass.) finished the first round tied for 17th after posting an 84 on Sunday. Stephanie Lowe (Cedar Park, Texas) rounded out the Pioneers' scoring group with a round of 90.
Sacred Heart had a team score of 333 on Sunday, finishing the day nine shots behind Boston University. Seton Hall leads the team competition by eight strokes over Yale. The Pioneers lead Fairleigh Dickinson by 10 strokes with Holy Cross rounding out the field in sixth.
The final round will be played Monday morning.
