Pioneers Finish CCSU Fall Blue Devils Invitational Tied For Third Place

BLOOMFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart men's golf team finished the CCSU Fall Blue Devils Invitational at Wintonbury Hills Golf Course on Monday in a tie for third-place with Iona, posting a team score of +16 over par for a two-round score of +29.
Sam Barber (North Bay, Ont.) had the Pioneers' low round on Monday, posting a one-over 71 on the par 70 course. His two-round score of +8 148 put him in a tie for 19th place. Freshman Matt Shubley (Whitby, Ont.) was Sacred Heart's highest finisher on the leaderboard after his final round 76 put him tied for 11th at +6. Will Smittle (Scarsdale, N.Y.) also shot 76 on Monday, finishing the tournament at +9 and tied for 22nd place. Jeff Cohen (Windham, N.H.) rounded out the Sacred Heart scoring group with a three-over 73 on Monday, placing tied for 24th at +10 for the tournament.
Sacred Heart and Iona tied for third in the team competition at +29 for the tournament. The Pioneers were +16 on Monday after posting a team score of +13 over par on Sunday. Boston College won the tournament at +2, followed by Hofstra at +25. Boston College's B squad was fifth at +30.
The Pioneers return to action on Monday, September 22 for the first day of competition at the Hartford Hawks Invitational at Bull's Bridge Golf Club in South Kent, Conn.
