
Women's Hockey Falls 1-0 At University of New England

The Sacred Heart University women's ice hockey team concluded its four-game Maine roadtrip with a 1-0 loss at the University of New England on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Pioneers to 5-8-1 on the year, while the Nor'easters improve to 4-7-2 on the season.
Emily Corrales scored the game's only goal, netting a tally 49 seconds into a power play, tapping home a slow-moving shot in the crease. Rookies Annie Mullen and Kimberly Gosselin were credited with assists on the goal.
Nicole Magee minded the net for SHU, stopping 10 shots a period for 30 over her 58:21 of play.
Sacred Heart finished with a 37-31 edge in shots on the game, but Samantha Scobee stopped ever Pioneer effort. UNE was perfect 4-4 on penalty kill chances, with three in the second period and one spanning the second and third periods.
The Pioneers are back in action with three games in the coming week, beginning Tuesday night at Wesleyan at 7 p.m. SHU plays a home-and-home series with Trinity, playing on the road at 7 p.m. on Friday and at home, at the Shelton Rinks, at 2 p.m on Saturday.
