Cunningham Ties For 10th, Pioneers Finish Eighth At NEC Men's Golf Championship

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Sacred Heart men's golf team finished the 2015 NEC Men's Golf Championship, held at LPGA International, in eighth place Sunday. Connor Cunningham (West Hartford, Conn.) tied for the top freshman golfer in the tournament, placing tied for 10th at +13.
Cunningham had the Pioneers' lowest round for the second time in three days, carding a three-over 75. He was even par on the back nine with birdies on 13 and 14. This is his first top-10 finish of the season. Cunningham tied with Kyle Maihi of LIU Brooklyn for the top freshman finish.
Senior Jeff Cohen (Windham, N.H.) finished tied for 21st at +20 after a final round 82. Freshman Tom D'Andrea (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) placed 30th overall after carding an 81 Sunday, finishing the tournament at +25. Senior Sam Barber (North Bay, Ont.) had his best round of the tournament Sunday with a final round 78, five strokes better than his round Saturday. He tied for 31st at +26.
The Pioneers had a team score of +27 on Sunday, an improvement by seven strokes from Saturday. With a three-round score of +83, Sacred Heart finished 12 strokes behind Saint Francis U for seventh place. Robert Morris won the tournament at +28, 14 strokes ahead of Bryant. FDU and LIU Brooklyn tied for third.
