
Men's Golf In 16th Place After First Day Of Hartford Hawks Invitational

SOUTH KENT, Conn. – The Sacred Heart men's golf team finished the first day of the Hartford Hawks Invitational at Bull's Bridge Golf Club Monday in 16th place.
Sophomore Connor Cunningham was the Pioneers' top finisher through 36 holes Monday, carding two rounds of three-over 75. Cunningham is tied for 43rd entering Tuesday's final round at +6. Matt Shubley carded an opening round 79 and followed that up with an even par 72, putting himself in a tie for 49th at +7. Freshman Alex Manner had rounds of 77 and 78 to finish the day at +11 and tied for 68th. Hector Gutierrez rebounded from an opening round 82 with a 76 in the second round to tie for 83rd at +14.
The Pioneers, as a team, were 25 strokes over par with a score of 313 in the first round. Sacred Heart improved, as a team, by 13 strokes in the second round to move into 16th at +37. The Pioneers are one shot behind LIU Brooklyn and three behind Fordham heading into the final round.
The final round is Tuesday morning.
