
Men's Golf In 12th After First Round Of Towson Invitational

GRASONVILLE, Md. – The Sacred Heart men's golf team recorded a team score of 313 in the first round of the Towson Invitational at Prospect Bay Country Club Saturday, putting the Pioneers in 12th place at +25. Matt Shubley led the way for SHU with four birdies on the day to finish tied for 6th with a one-over 73.
Tom D'Andrea finished the first round in the group tied for 33rd after shooting a six-over 78. Hector Gutierrez shot an opening round 80, and is tied for 48th on the leaderboard. Curtis Quinn rounded out the SHU scoring group tied for 68th at 10-over par, while Alex Manner had a round of 14-over par 86 in the first round and is tied for 80th.
Sacred Heart will try to fight off two conference rivals with LIU Brooklyn two strokes behind at +27, and Robert Morris just one stroke behind at +26. At the same time, the Pioneers look to catch Fairfield who is just one stroke in front in 11th place at +24. Drexel leads the tournament at +7, one shot ahead of Georgetown.
