Women's Golf In Second Place After Second Round Of NEC Championship

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Sacred Heart women's golf team finished the second round of the NEC Women's Golf Championship Saturday where it started, two strokes behind Fairleigh Dickinson for first place.
Both the Pioneers and the Knights had team scores of 317 on Saturday, 25 strokes over par. FDU leads the tournament at +42 with SHU at +44. Wagner is third at +61.
Ellen Nighbor is the top Pioneer on the leaderboard. The junior is second at +7 after carding a second round six-over 79 Saturday. She birdied three of the last six holes to stay one shot behind FDU's Anneke Strobach. Abigail Hood had the Pioneers' low round Saturday, shooting a second consecutive round of 77 to put herself tied for third at +8. Hood had four birdies in her second round.
Chelsea Sedlar is one stroke behind Hood in fifth place at +9. Sedlar had a round of six-over 79 on Saturday, shooting even par for the last 11 holes. Stephanie Lowe rounded out the SHU scoring group Saturday, improving by two strokes from Friday's round with an 82. She is 18th on the leaderboard at +20.
The tournament concludes Sunday morning with the third and final round.
