Track & Field Wins Four Events At Mark Young Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Sacred Heart track and field teams won four events Saturday at the Mark Young Invitational, hosted by Yale at Dewitt Cuyler Athletic Complex.
It was the women's team that won those four events, with three coming in the field. Mareena DiMilia won the hammer throw with a throw of 171'8" while also coming in second in the shot put (41'3.75") and fourth in the javelin (110'11"). Julia Cassidy was second in the javelin with a throw of 121'5". Elizabeth Tevnan won the discus at 123'11", with Jenna Rothermel taking third with a throw of 113'8". Sacred Heart also took three of the top four spots in the pole vault as Selina Sampieri topped the group by clearing 10'10". Amy Vegliante was third at 10'4" and Victoria Piscitelli was fourth at 8'10.25".
On the track, Tanaya Wade won the 100 meters in a time of 13.33 seconds. Kayla Lawrence was second in the 200, running a time of 25.83 in the final. Jessica Failace was fifth in the 400 meters in 1:01.34. Failace, Lawrence, Camille McKenzie, and Taylor Ann D'Agostino led the 4x400 relay to third place in a time of 4:03.93. The Pioneers also got a fourth place finish from Mackenzie Revano in the 100 meter hurdles in 16.29.
The men's team was led by fifth-place finishes from Joshua Beloff in the 100 meters (11.34) and Sebastian Pierre in the 400 meters (50.00). Pierre was also sixth in the 200 meters in 22.80 seconds. Jake Tavernite won the steeplechase among a field full of Pioneers, running a 10:14.69. Adam King was fourth in the high jump with a leap of 6'3.5". Giuseppe DeLucia cleared 14'5.25" in the pole vault to take fourth place as well. Christian Turner took sixth in the shot put with a throw of 47'3".
On Friday night, a select group of distance runners competed in the Sam Howell Invitational. Trevor Guerrera took fifth in the 800 meters, running a time of 1:53.04. Sean Ferguson was seventh in the 5,000 in 14:32.80. Tara Connelly had the top women's finish, taking eighth in the steeplechase in 11:08.97. Shannon Hickey finished ninth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:17.6.
Nicole Bartosch placed fifth in the heptathlon at the Jim Click Shootout at Arizona with a new personal record and score of 5117. Her score qualifies her for both the New England and ECAC Championships. Her 200m time of 25.11 ranks her third in the NEC, her 100m hurdles time of 15.14 is seventh in the NEC, her high jump mark of 5'5.75" ranks third in the NEC and her long jump of 18'5" ranks second in the NEC. Bartosch set new personal records in the shot put (10.58m) and javelin (32.38m), and currently ranks 12th in the NCAA East Region in the heptathlon.
The next meet for the Pioneers is the Ocean State Invitational, April 16-17 in Providence, R.I.

Sam Howell Invite Hosted by Princeton University
- Shannon Hickey ran a new personal record in the 5000m, with a time of 17:17.16 that surpasses the New England standard and is the top time in the NEC. Teammates Meghan Hutch (17:47.65), Molly Barker (17:52.37), Jennifer Hahne (17:53.85) and Alexandra Kaeslin (17:53.90) rank 3rd-6th in the conference. Hutch and Barker ran personal records while Hahne and Kaeslin ran outdoor personal bests. Freshman Emma Cary also ran a new best in 18:29.60.
- In the 3000m Steeplechase, Tara Connelly (11:08.97) and Kelly Quinn (11:24.92) ran personal bests under the New England standard, to take spots #1 and #2 in the NEC. Teammates Kate Svensen (11:41.44) and Lindsey Lucas (11:47.16) also ran personal bests, ranking fifth and sixth in the conference.
- Cynthia Gray ran the 800m, finishing in 2:20.01.
- Trevor Guerrera ranks first in the NEC after running a 1:53.04 in the 800m to qualify him for both the New England Championship as well as ICAAAA's.
- In the 5000m, Sean Ferguson ran a 14:32.80, which now ranks him 1st in the NEC as well and surpasses both the New England and ICAAAA standard. Teammate Joshua Hadity was next in the event, with a new personal record of 15:26.04, which ranks 7th in the NEC.

- Scott Sheehan set a personal record in the discus (133'5") and now ranks fifth in the NEC.
- Freshman Christian Turner's throw of 47'3" ranks him third in the NEC in the Shot Put.
- Adam King cleared 6'3.5" in the High Jump, and now ranks fifth in the NEC.
- Jake Tavernite won the steeplechase, his first collegiate victory, in a personal best of 10:14.69. He sits fifth in the NEC.
- Joshua Beloff ran a personal best in the 100m dash (11.34), good for fifth overall.
- Ralph Gangi ran a personal best in the 800m of 1:59.32.
- Mareena DiMilia threw an ECAC and New England standard in the hammer (171'8"), which took first place and ranks second in the NEC. Her best shot put mark of the day (41'3.75") also surpasses the New England standard.
- Selina Sampieri won the pole vault with a leap of 10'10", while Amy Veliante matched her personal best of 10'4" to grab third.
- Elizabeth Tevnan, Erika Johnson and Jenna Rothermel took the top three spots overall in the discus throw.
- Kayla Lawrence finished third in the 200m in 26.19.
- Antonia Palazzolo won her first collegiate race in her debut in the steeplechase.
- Tanaya Wade won her first collegiate race in the 100m dash.
- Senior Christine Donnelly ran a personal record in the 1500 (5:00.15).
