The last time Sacred Heart University and Duquesne University were on the field, the Pioneers were raising the Northeast Conference championships trophy. The two teams will face off again Saturday when the Dukes come to Campus Field at 12 p.m. SHU (4-3, 2-1 NEC) is coming off back-to-back wins while the Dukes have won four-straight.
OPENING KICKOFF
- For the third time in eight months, Sacred Heart and Duquesne will meet on the football field when the Dukes come to Campus Field Saturday.
- The Pioneers defeated Duquesne, 34-27, on April 11 in the first Northeast Conference championship game.
- SHU has won its last two games, following a 27-17 win over CCSU. Duquesne had a bye after beating Bryant, 39-34.
- For the second week in a row, Malik Grant was named NEC Offensive` Player of the Week and was an honorable mention for STATS Perform National Offensive Player of the Week.
- Grant has 403 yards the last two weeks to move up to #1 in the FCS with 853 yards.
- Punter Noah Gettman picked up his second NEC Special Teams Player of the Week after averaging 48.0 yards per punt.
- Sacred Heart continues to have the best passing defense in the country, limiting opponents to just 126.6 yards per game.
