Pioneers shoot 30% from the free throw line in the three-point setback.
STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Despite a strong second-half push, a buzzer-beating three devastated the Sacred Heart University men's basketball team as they fell, 75-72, at Stony Brook on Monday night.

It was a game of runs and Stony Brook heated up at just the right time in the second half. The Seawolves took off on an 8-0 run to erase SHU's nine-point lead. The run was capped off with an Anthony Robert's three to beat the buzzer.
After trailing by six at the end of the first half, Sacred Heart started the second frame on fire by outscoring Stony Brook, 14-3, before the first media break. The Pioneers grew to its largest lead of the night, 71-62, with 4:30 remaining just before the Seawolves finished off the game.
Sacred Heart showed to be a good free throw shooting team before tonight, posting a 71.8% mark from the stripe. Against the Seawolves, the Pioneers shot five-of-15 from the line, marking its lowest percentage of the early season.
Stony Brook made the Pioneers pay for its mistakes as it notched 23 points off SHU's 17 turnovers. Sacred Heart did win the rebounding battle, 41-32, including 12 offensive boards that turned into 18 second-chance points.
Both Bryce Johnson (13 points, 10 rebounds) and Nico Galette (11 points, 14 rebounds) posted double-doubles. It marks the second in both sophomores' careers.
For the second game in a row, senior Aaron Clarke led the Pioneers in scoring with a game-high 18 points. Clarke shot over 50% from the field (8-15) and dished out a season-high three assists.
