Following three-straight victories and a bye week, the Sacred Heart University football team is on the road Saturday to face Saint Francis University. The Pioneers (5-3, 3-1 NEC) have won the last three meetings, but the two teams haven't met since 2019 as SFU opted out of the spring. Saint Francis (4-4, 3-1 NEC) is also coming off a win over Duquesne following a 17-10 decision.
OPENING KICKOFF
- Sacred Heart and Saint Francis meet for the first time since the 2019 campaign. The Red Flash did not play during the spring.
- The Pioneers are coming off a bye week following a 31-13 defeat of Duquesne on October 23.
- A win over the Red Flash would give the Pioneers their first four-game winning streak since the start of the 2016 campaign.
- After the win over Duquesne, Malik Grant was named NEC Offensive` Player of the Week for the third week in a row as well as honorable mention for the StatsPerform National Offensive Player of the Week..
- Grant has 589 yards the last three games to move up to #1 in the FCS with 1,039 yards and 129.9 yards per game.
- Against Duquesne, Kevin Peprah recorded a team-high five tackles with 1.5 sacks to earn NEC Defensive Player of the Week.
- Sacred Heart continues to have the best passing defense in the country, limiting opponents to just 117.9 yards per game.
