McCray throws for a pair of scores to move SHU to top of NEC standings
LORETTO, Pa. -- A last-second Saint Francis field goal sailed wide left as the Sacred Heart University football team won 14-13 at SFU on Saturday. A pair of second-quarter touchdowns held up as the Pioneers topped the Red Flash at DeGol Field and moved SHU to the top of the NEC standings.

Neither team could generate much offense in the second half. Alex Schmoke made a field goal at the 4:53 mark of the third quarter to pull the Red Flash within a point. The Pioneers had a pair of chances to ice the game in the fourth quarter, but both drives were thwarted by penalties.
SFU got the ball back with 2:17 left on the clock. The Pioneers forced a fumble short of the first down, but the Red Flash recovered the ball past the sticks. Three players later, Schmoke's 42-yard attempt was tipped at the line.
The game marked the return of All-America running back Julius Chestnut. He carried the ball 20 times for 86 yards. Malik Grant, the nation's leading rusher, had 74 yards on 15 rushes.
Sacred Heart took the lead thanks to a pair of second-quarter scores that were capped by Marquez McCray touchdowns. The junior signal caller threw for a career-high 224 yards.
McCray found Rob DiNota with a 41-yard score to tie the game at 7-7. McCray connected with Naseim Brantley from 23-yards out just before halftime.
Saint Francis got on the board first when the Red Flash blocked a first-quarter punt and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown.
The Pioneers, who defeated SFU for the fourth-straight time, held the Red Flash to nearly half their offensive scoring output as Saint Francis was averaging 24.5 points per game.
Sacred Heart ran its current winning streak to four games by winning for the first time on the road this season.
