SHU Finishes Third Behind Rouquette Victory at FDU Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. – The reigning Northeast Conference Golfer of the Week made a case for her second award in a row. Sacred Heart University's Margot Rouquette won her second-straight tournament to help the Pioneers take third at the FDU Invitational on the Penn National Golf Club.
SHU was 10 strokes better on Saturday, recording a two-day total of 630 (320-310). Boston University edged the host Fairleigh Dickinson by one stroke with a two-day total of 618.
Rouquette earned medalist honors by two strokes, recording a 36-hole total of 147 (72-75). Sophomore Kailee Welch shaved seven strokes to crack the top 10 with a 155 (81-74). Senior Maya Isom posted identical 81s to finish 15th at 162. Chelsea Thakkar was six strokes better in round two, posted a 166 (86-80) to place 21st. Christina Massei rounded out the scores with a 183 (91-92).
Up next for the Pioneers is the Hartford Tumble Brook Invitational on April 9.
