
Pioneers Win First Day of Season Opening Tournament

Sacred Heart opened the season going 4-0
FAIRFIELD, Conn.—The Sacred Heart women's bowling team opened the season with a win to kick off their Bowl for a Cure tournament, going 4-0 on the day at the Nutmeg Bowl.
The Pioneers started the day with an 883-820 win over St Francis College. In the next round, Sacred Heart took down the 2021 Bowl for a Cure Champion, Adelphi, 983-764. With a bye in the third round, Sacred Heart went on to win the fourth round, 978-912 over Bryant. The Pioneers were the tournament leader in total pins to secure the number one seed in the final position round. To wrap up the first day of the Bowl for the Cure tournament, Sacred Heart beat Adelphi for the second time in the day, 878-774.
Rachel Glowniak led the team with a 20.17 frame average followed by Megan Prettyman's 19.38 frame average. Pettyman, a first year, led the team in strikes, tossing strikes on 50% of her attempts in her collegiate debut. Paige Donovan and Jacqueline Gonzalez were 100% on single pin spare conversions. The performance by the team today was a full team effort.
