Nassaney Breaks 24-Year-Old School Record at Yale Season Opener

The high jump record was the programs oldest school record
NEW HAVEN, Conn.— Senior Owen Nassaney set the school record in the high jump to highlight Sacred Heart men's track and field at the Yale Season Opener on Saturday afternoon.
Nassaney was first overall in the high jump at 2.09m. The indoor school record for men's high jump was set in December of 1998 during the CTC Relays at Southern Connecticut State University by Gaetano Marra. The event was measured in feet and inches, instead of metrics, and Marra cleared 6' 10".
Nassaney cleared 2.09 meters (equivalent to 6' 10 1/4") to break the 24-year-old record, the program's oldest school record.
On top of his first-place finish, Nassaney was second in the long jump at 6.47m. The Pioneers had another set of top-two finishers as Jordan Leon was first overall in the mile at 4:33.65, and Ryan Scappaticci was second at 4:33.73.
In the 300m, Joseph Morrone was second at 34.76, and in the 800m James Moore finished in the second spot at 2:09.22.
Dylan Hunt was third overall in the triple jump at 12.03m. Cameron Croce was another third-place finisher. In the weight throw, Croce was third at 17.52m. Also finishing in the top five in the weight throw was Daniel Blatman in fourth place at 16.24m.
Shane Naggast was fourth overall in the 1000m, finishing at 2:53.59, and Dominic Miele was fourth in the 500m as he finished in 1:08.75.
Prior to the Yale Season Opener, Benjamin Healy participated in the URI Men's Heptathlon Qualifier. He was third overall with 4332 points.
The Pioneers will be back in action on Friday, January 6th, at the US Military Academy West Point Open.
