
Witek Fenced Dual Weapons at the George Kolombatovich Historical Meet

Captain Sophie Witek posted a 2-1 bout record in the saber and epee.
NEW YORK, N.Y. — At the third annual George Kolombatovich Historical Meet hosted by Columbia, Sophie Witek only dropped two bouts in both rounds for the Sacred Heart University women's fencing team. The captain hit the strip in the saber and epee with a 2-1 record in each weapon's 5-4 loss on Wednesday.
In round two for the saber squad, Witek racked up a pair of points against the Blue Lions while Tiffany Kellstrom and Emma Marchetta-Turner accounted for the remaining two in the 5-4 defeat.
Witek switched to the epee in the final round where she secured a 2-1 victory record. Grace Hand followed suit and matched Witek's record in the 5-4 loss against New York University.
The Red & White compete at the NEIFC Championship at Brandeis on February 26.
