DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A strong wind and strong competition were no match for the Sacred Heart University women's golf team. The hosts increased their lead on Saturday to win the SHU Spring Break Invitational at the LPGA Jones Course.
The Pioneers posted a winning scoring of 600 (291-309) to finish four strokes ahead of Seton Hall. Lehigh was next at 621.
Sophomore Chantal El Chaib was the only player under par for the two days as she turned in a winning score of 141 (70-71). First-year Maya Robilio, the one round leader, finished third at 148 (69-79). Sophomore Margot Rouquette also finished in the top 10 at 151. Junior Kailee Welch was next at 160 (78-82) and classmate Chelsea Thakkar shaved off three storkes for a 169 (86-83).
Senior Christina Massei was two strokes better on Saturday as she recorded a two-day total of 175 (89-86). First-year Jensie Nicholas posted a 179 (85-94). Senior Cora Koproski shaved 10 strokes her first 18 for a 192 (101-91).
Sacred Heart is back on the course April 2-3 at the Prospect Bay Intercollegiate in Gransonville, Md.
