El Chaib & Robilio tied for fifth.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Sacred Heart University women's golf team has the lead after round one of the Northeast Conference Championship. The Pioneers are three shots ahead of the field at the LPGA International Jones Course.
Sacred Heart carded a 315 for the lead over Wagner (318), followed by LIU (321) and Merrimack (324). Defending champion Fairleigh Dickinson shot a 325.
Pacing the Pioneers was sophomore Chantal El Chaib and rookie Maya Robilio. Both fired rounds of 78 to tie for fifth. El Chaib had identical nine-hole scores of 39 while Robilio went out in 37 and shot 41 on the back.
Just a shot back in a tie for seventh in junior Kailee Welch as she carded an opening-round 79. Sophomore Margot Rouquette is just outside the top 10 in 11th place after an 80. Junior Chelsea Thakkar rounded out the scores with an 86.
Round two is Thursday with the first SHU tee time slated for 9:20 a.m.
