EMMITSBURG, Md.— The Sacred Heart University men's and women's track and field teams finished its tenure at the Northeast Conference Outdoor Championships on Sunday.
The women placed seventh with 64.5 points while the men finished tenth with 24 points.
For the women, four Pioneers earned a spot on the podium, combining for 26 points.
Kaylee Stenderowicz had the highest score with eight points as she lept 12.05m to clinch second in the triple jump.
Brigit Kelly ran a personal best time of 11:42.17 and placed third in the 3,000m Steeplechase.
Jennifer Pasram (3.50m) and
Allison Plante (46.98m) also took the bronze in the pole vault and hammer throw. The three notched six points for Sacred Heart in their events.
Nicole Szilagyi posted fourth in the 100m hurdles at a time of 14.61. The team of
Maya Mocarski,
Prithika Satish,
Megan Wassick and Stenderowicz earned fifth in the 4x100m relay at 49.65.
Two school records were broken on the men's side.
Cameron Croce smashed the record in the hammer throw on a personal best 58.16m that that earned him first. It also gave the team its highest score of 10 points.
The team of
Lance Hayes,
Rafael Mahario,
Jonathan Mahon and
Joseph Morrone clinched third at a time of 3:14.63, setting a new record with the previous one at 3:16.95 in 2010.
Up next, Sacred Heart finishes the season at the New England Outdoor Championships on May 13 and 14.
