Former SHU Star had 10 Goals for Columbus
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Justin Danforth, the former Sacred Heart all-conference forward, has been featured on nhl.com as part of its Summer Spotlight Series.
The Oshawa, Ont., native played 45 games with the Columbus Blue Jackets last winter, notching 10 goals and 14 points in his first NHL campaign. Danforth had skated in the KHL, AHL and ECHL before making his big-league debut.
His production earned him a two-year extension on his contract, while his presence on the ice caught the eye of Sydney Crosby, according to nhl.com.
"It's no surprise that Justin caught the attention of his coaching staff and earned notice by Sydney Crosby," said C.J. Marottolo, head coach of the Pioneers. "Justin attacks the game and does it the right way. He's as honest a player as they come, and there is no doubt he brings that enthusiasm and energy that is needed to compete in the best league in the world."
