He becomes the fourth Pioneer to earn All-America status
LAS VEGAS – In recognition of an outstanding senior campaign, Sacred Heart University men's ice hockey forward Felix Trudeau was named Second Team All-America by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) and CCM on Friday evening at the Frozen Four in Las Vegas, Nev.
Trudeau becomes the fourth Pioneer and 20th Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) player to receive this prestigious honor. He joins SHU greats Nick Johnson (2009-10), Jason Cotton (2019-20) and Mike Lee (2019-20) as Pioneers to be named All-Americans. Standout Air Force defenseman Chris Hedden joined Trudeau as an AHA representative on the All-America Second Team.
Heading into the NCAA National Championship Game, Trudeau leads Division I with 12 power play goals. He is also tied for second with 25 goals and tied for eighth with 48 points. His two hat tricks are tied for second nationally and his five game-winning goals is tied for eighth overall. The Terrebonne, Quebec, native set new career-highs across the board in goals (25), assists (23) and points (48). He tallied the second-most goals in SHU single-season history and fourth-most points.
This season, Trudeau claimed both the AHA Player and Forward of the Year awards and was crowned the league's scoring champion. He was also the program's first top ten finalist for the Hobey Baker Award.
In addition to his individual accolades, Trudeau played a key role in one of the best seasons in SHU men's ice hockey history. The team set a new program record with 23 wins and made its third appearance in the AHA Championship game.
Right after the season, Trudeau signed a two-year contract with the St. Louis Blues and will finish out the year with the team's AHL affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds.
