Pioneers Finish Seventh at Hartford Invite

SOUTH KENT, CONN. – The Sacred Heart University men's golf team moved up a spot on the final day of the Hartford Hawks Invitational at the Bull's Bridge Golf Course. The Pioneers wrapped up a suspended round two then played the final round on Tuesday.

SHU posted rounds of 288-283-297 to tie Mount St. Mary's for seventh at 868. UCF ran away with the tournament, posting a winning score of 829.

Pacing the Pioneers was junior Marcus Lim with a sixth-place score of 209 (68-70-71). Equaling Lim's score in round two was rookie Michael Rothbert on his way to a 220 (76-70-74). Fellow rookie Pablo Lacayo was two shots back (73-72-77). Sophomores Jason Pelley and Eoin Freeman followed at 223 (74-71-78) and 225 (73-77-75). Competing as an individual, Blake Moreno notched a 217 (69-73-75) to finish tied for 24^th.

The Pioneers are off until October 1-2 for the Autumn Invitational, hosted by Columbia.
