
El Chaib Earns Medalist as Pioneers Place 4th at BC Invite

SHU finishes ahead of Monmouth & Quinnipiac
CANTON, Mass. – Paced by a medalist honors from sophomore Chantal El Chaib, the Sacred Heart University women's golf team posted a top-five finish at the Boston College Intercollegiate. The Pioneers came in fourth at the Blue Hill Country Club on Tuesday.
The Pioneers posted a 54-hole total of 919 (306-305-308) to finish 10 strokes back of Seattle. The host Eagles edged Elon by two strokes for the title.
Tied for the individual lead after Monday's 36 holes, El Chaib posted a 77 in round three to beat Elon's Annabelle Ackroyd by two strokes with a 217 (69-70-77). She set the tournament's 54-hole record and tied the single-best round with her opening three-under 69. It's her first victory since winning the SHU Spring Break Invitational in March.
Recording SHU's lowest round of the day was junior Margot Rouqette to move up into the top 20 at 232 (81-75-76). Senior Kailee Welch was two strokes back with a 234 (76-78-80). Posting her best round of the tournament in the final 18 holes was classmate Chelsea Thakkar to card a 238 (80-81-77). Also saving her best round for last was sophomore Maya Robilio at 242 (83-81-78). Newcomer Jessie Burch posted a 243 (82-79-82) while competing as an individual.
SHU is back on the course this weekend for the Navy Invitational, October 1-2, at the Naval Academy Golf Course.
