Pioneers Move Up at Turning Stone Intercollegiate

VERONA, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart University men's golf team fired its best round of the weekend in Monday's final 18 holes. The Pioneers moved up a spot into seventh at the Turning Stone Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Missouri on the Kaluhyat Course.
Sacred Heart finished in a tie with Louisiana with a 54-hole score of 898 (300-301-287). The host Tigers came back to the field, but still bested Stetson by 11 strokes with a winning total of 847.
Pacing the Pioneers was junior Marcus Lim who finished tied for fifth with a two-day total of 214 (69-71-74). Sophomore Eoin Freeman fired a 69 in the final 18 holes, tied for SHU's lowest round of the tournament, to move up 16 spots with a 230 (83-78-69). He was tied with newcomer Michael Rothberg who shot 77-74-79. Jason Pelley carded his best round on Monday to post a 231 (76-80-75). Rounding out the scores was sophomore Jonah Camarillo at 238 (78-78-82).
The Pioneers are back on the course September 10-11 at the Ryan Lee Intercollegiate at Hop Meadow Country Club.
