Reilly Has Career-High in Pioneers Win Over FDU

Sacred Heart hands FDU its first NEC loss.
HACKENSACK, N.J.-- Joey Reilly scored a career-high 29 points, and Bryce Johnson had his sixth double-double of the season as the Sacred Heart men's basketball team took down Fairleigh Dickinson, 92-85, snapping the Knight's 5-0 Northeast Conference unbeaten streak on Friday night. The Pioneers had five players score in double figures in the road win.

Sacred Heart came out of halftime hot after being down by seven, with a 12-2 run, taking a 42-39 lead just two and a half minutes into the second half.
The Pioneers took an eight-point lead, 56-48, at 13:28, coming from a layup from Tanner Thomas. FDU got within three at 9:52, but Sacred Heart went up by nine, the largest lead of the game, off a dunk from Thomas at 7:25.
The Knights were able to tie the game 74-74 at 4:06, but Joey Reilly made a layup at 3:51, and Johnson sunk a three-pointer, giving SHU a five-point lead with three minutes left in the game. Both teams traded three-pointers as FDU came within two at 1:40. Thomas made a layup to give the Pioneers an 84-80 lead. Reilly made a pair of free throws as SHU went up by six, 86-80, at 1:11. The Knights were able to cut the deficit to one, 86-85, but Reilly put the game away with the final six points for the 92-85 final.
In first-half action, the game was at a 10-10 tie at 15:38 in the first half, Nico Galette made a jumper that sparked a 9-2 run for the Pioneers, going up by seven, 19-12 at 12:05. The Knights answered with a run of their own to tie it back up at 21-21 with 9:20 left in the half. FDU went on to take an eight-point lead, 29-21, at 6:28. The Knights were able to maintain the advantage for a 37-30 halftime lead.
