Rouquette and Welch lead SHU after 36 holes at +3

LAKEWOOD, Wash. – The Sacred Heart University women's golf team ended day one of the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational, hosted by Seatle University in Lakewood, Wash., in a tie for 11th place in a challenging 22-team field. The two-day event is being played at the par-72 Tacoma Country and Golf Club.

The Pioneers concluded the first 36 holes with a combined score of 597 (+21) to tie the host in 11th. Nevada leads the field with a four-over 580 through the first two rounds.

Leading the way for SHU are Margot Rouquette and Kailee Welch in a tie for 22nd. Rouquette shot a 73 and 74 in the first two rounds to end the day with a three-over 147. Welch opened the morning with a one-under 71 before an afternoon 76 (+4) gave her a matching 147 to end the day.

Jessie Burch placed next for the Pios in a tie for 46th. The sophomore carded a 79 in round one before bouncing back with an even-par 72 in round two to finish with a 151 (+7). Chantal El Chaib finished one stroke away from Burch in a tie for 54th. The senior carded a combined score of 152 (+8). Rounding out the Pios' golfers was Maya Robilio in a tie for 106th with a score of 160 (+16).

The Pios will conclude the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational tomorrow, with round three scheduled to start at 11 a.m. local time.
