Rouquette, Welch and El Chaib all finished in the top 35
SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Sacred Heart University women's golf team placed three golfers in the top 35 at the challenging Southern tournament, hosted by Georgia Southern at the Savannah Golf Club.
The Pios tallied a combined score of 928 (+64) at the 54-hole event, shooting 314, 310 and 304 over the three rounds. Sacred Heart finished just four strokes shy of tying Jacksonville State (+60) in ninth place. Hosting Georgia Southern took the team crown, finishing the event with an 889 (+25).
Leading the Pioneers for a third time this fall was Margot Rouquette in a tie for 29th. The senior finished The Southern with a 12-over 228 (74-76-78) for her fourth top-30 showing. She recorded three birdies on Tuesday, ending the event with eight.
Kailee Welch finished on Rouquette's heels in 32nd place. The Huntington Beach, Calif., native was consistent throughout the event carding rounds of 77, 76 and 76 for a combined score of 229 (+13).
Sacred Heart's final golfer in the top 35 was Chantal El Chaib in T35th. The Abu Dhabi, UAE, native finished the event with a 16-over 232 (79-76-77).
Jessie Burch and Maya Robilio rounded out the Pios' five-person lineup in T53rd and 63rd. Burch carded a 239 (+23) for the event, while Robilio shot a 259 (+43). Burch finished one stroke off of her season-high with an impressive 73 in round three this afternoon.
