El Chaib, McGreevy Get NEC Awards

Welch, Rouquette Earn All-Conference
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Junior Chantal El Chaib was the medalist for the conference champions. Matt McGreevy, who serves as head coach of both Sacred Heart Golf Teams, was the one leading the Pioneers' march to a second straight Northeast Conference title.
El Chaib was named NEC Player of the Year, while McGreevy took home NEC Coach of the Year honors again. He earned the same honor leading both SHU teams last Spring and has now earned the award five times for the women.
Senior Kailee Welch was also a first-team pick after firing a 72-73-71 at the conference tournament and finishing second. Junior Margot Rouquette, who had a crucial 74 on the final day of NECs, was named to the second team.
SHU's top player this year, El Chaib, won five events while averaging 74 shots for 30.5 rounds. She was NEC Rookie of the Year and a first-team selection in 2022. El Chaib followed that with player of the year honors and first-team all-conference this Spring after shooting 72-71-72 at LPGA International during the NEC Tournament.
Welch, who had six top 10 finishes this year, had a 77.2 average over 30.5 rounds. The captain of the team earned all-conference honors for a third time.
Rouquette, the 2021 NEC Rookie of the Year, earned all-NEC honors for a third time while posting a 76.7 average with five top 10 finishes.
