The Pios carded a 13-over 297 as a team in round one
KENSINGTON, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University men's golf team ranks 10th after the first 18 holes of play at the Ryan Lee Intercollegiate, which kicked off Saturday at the Shuttle Meadow Country Club in Kensington, Conn.
Senior Marcus Lim is leading the way for SHU, as he carded a one-under 70 to start his tournament in a tie for seventh. The Selangor, Malaysia, native's first round featured four birdies, three of which came on the front nine.
Pablo Lacayo posted the next best day on the team, placing in a tie for 18th with a one-over 72. The sophomore from Managua, Nicaragua, tallied birdies on the par-five seventh and par-four 16th to go along with 13 pars.
Mike Rothberg and Finlay Conrad rounded out the Pios' scoring players in ties for 57th and 63rd, respectively. Rothberg, a sophomore, shot a +6 77 with one birdie, while Conrad, a first year, made his collegiate debut with two birdies and a +7 78. SHU's final competitor today was senior Victor Ginart-Belmonte, who carded an 11-over 82.
Round two of the Ryan Lee Intercollegiate kicks off tomorrow at approximately 7:30 a.m.
