Men’s Golf Places in a Tie for Ninth at Ryan Lee Intercollegiate

SHU finished the event with a team score of 584 (+16)
KENSINGTON, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University men's golf team climbed a spot on the team leaderboard at the Ryan Lee Intercollegiate after a solid round two on Sunday at the Shuttle Meadow Country Club.
Sacred Heart recorded a team score of 287 (+3), finishing the weekend with a combined mark of 584 (+16). The Pios' Sunday 287 was a 10-stroke improvement from Saturday's round.
Marcus Lim led the way for SHU this weekend, finishing tied for eighth with a two-under 140 at the event. The senior posted identical scores of one-under 70 in both rounds. He ended the weekend with a team-high eight birdies, sinking four each day.
Pablo Lacayo placed next for the Pios, finishing in a tie for 23rd after a two-day score of 144 (+2). Lacayo joined Lim by posting the same score on both days, as he carded two straight one-over 72s. The sophomore added three birdies to his tally on Sunday, giving him five for the weekend.
SHU's Mike Rothberg saw the biggest improvement from round one to round two, climbing 21 spots on the leaderboard Sunday. The local product from Fairfield, Conn., shaved seven strokes off his day one with his one-under 70 this afternoon. His final score of 147 (+5) was good for a tie for 36th place. Rothberg led the way for the Pios on Sunday with five birdies.
Finlay Conrad and Victor Ginart-Belmonte, Sacred Heart's remaining competitors this weekend, both tallied round-two scores of 75 (+4). Conrad finished the event tied for 66th with a combined score of 153 (+11), while Ginart-Belmonte tied for 79th with a 157 (+15). Conrad just edged Ginart-Belmonte in birdies this weekend, 5-4.
The Pioneers continue the fall portion of their slate at the two-day Autumn Invitational, hosted by Columbia on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 30-Oct. 1, at the Lake Placid Club Links Course.
