Pios Open Fall with Sixth-Place Finish at Red Bandanna Invitational

Lim placed fourth on the individual leaderboard
VERONA, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart University men's golf team climbed a spot on the final leaderboard to place sixth at Boston College's Red Bandanna Invitational, which concluded on Monday.
SHU finished the event with a 54-hole score of +34 898. The Pioneers improved their score in every round, peaking with a +4 292 on Sunday. The top half of the leaderboard was tightly contested, as Sacred Heart was just five strokes away from placing in the top three. West Virginia took the top prize with an eight-over 872, while the hosting Eagles finished second with a +10 874.
Lim led the way for the Pioneers in the season-opening event, posting an even-par 216 to take fourth. The senior carded three birdies and 12 pars on his way to a Monday +1 73. Lim finished three strokes shy of tying medalist Max Green of WVU.
Pablo Lacayo posted the best round by anyone on Monday, carding a four-under 68 to surge up the leaderboard. The Managua, Nicaragua native tallied four birdies and an eagle on the par-five sixth hole over his impressive day. Lacayo climbed 26 spots on the leaderboard to tie for 26th overall with a final score of +11 227.
Rothberg also ranked in the top 30, tying for 29th with a +13 229. The sophomore from Fairfield, Conn., hovered around par for the final two rounds of the event, carding a two-over 74 on Monday.
Jason Pelley placed next for SHU, taking 35th with a +15 231. Eoin Freeman (T58) and Kevin Morris (T77) rounded out the Pioneers' competitors.
Sacred Heart continues its fall season at the Ryan Lee Intercollegiate, beginning on Saturday, Sept. 16. The two-day event will occur at the Shuttle Meadow Country Club in Kensington, Conn.
