Bowling Climbs to 11th in NTCA December Poll

The Pioneers are the second-highest ranked independent team
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University women's bowling team climbed to No. 11 in the December edition of the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Coaches Poll after an outstanding start to the 2024-25 campaign.
The Pioneers are the second-highest ranked independent team in the country behind No. 3 Nebraska. SHU is also one of just four teams in the top 11 that don't compete in the very competitive Conference USA.
The Pioneers own an impressive 32-12 record through their first four tournaments of the season. SHU has won 10 times against ranked competition, including against then No. 6 North Carolina A&T State, No. 7 Louisiana Tech and No. 8 Sam Houston.
The Pioneers are coming off of a strong fourth-place showing at the Colonial Lanes Classic, hosted by Tulane on Nov. 15-17. SHU started the event with wins in its first five matches and won ranked contests against No. 8 Sam Houston, No. 15 Newman and No. 17 Wichita State.
Sacred Heart begins the second half of their schedule on Friday, Jan. 17, at the Northeast Classic they are hosting in New Castle, Del.
