Bowling Finishes 11th at Columbia 300 Music City Classic

SHU tallied four ranked wins, including two against teams ranked higher than them
SMYRNA, Tenn. – The No. 10 ranked Sacred Heart University bowling team collected eight wins at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic, finishing 11th in a talented field.
The Pioneers tallied four wins over nationally-ranked teams, highlighted by victories over No. 4 Wichita State and No. 8 Youngstown State. SHU also bested No. 17 Tulane and No. 11 Niagara on Sunday in the bracket round.
SHU opened the tournament with a 3-2 day in baker play. SHU bounced back from losses against ranked Newman and Tulane with three-straight wins, including the victory over the Penguins.
The win over the Shockers started off a 3-2 day in the traditional matches. Sacred Heart also won against University of Indianapolis and Carthage, but fell to No. 14 Sam Houston and No. 9 Wright State, the former being a heartbreaking 12-pin defeat, 1021-1009.
The Raiders got the better of SHU again in a close match, 4-2, to start off play on Sunday. The Pioneers were again ready with an answer, reeling off wins over Tulane and No. 11 Niagara to claim 11th in the stacked field.
SHU saw two Pioneers crack the top 22 in pins, with Karleigh LeMond ranking 16th and Hope Bunk ranking 22nd. LeMond tallied 1,058 pins in five traditional games, while Bunk knocked over 1,032. LeMond's 244 against Indianapolis was the team's best game of the day.
The Pioneers are back in action this weekend for the ISC and ITC sectionals. The event will take place on Friday-Sunday, March 13-15, at Stardust Lanes in Addison, Ill.
