Starastsenka and O’Toole secure singles and doubles wins
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University women's tennis secured a big win against the University of Rhode Island Thursday afternoon, 5-2. The Pioneers improve to 12-3 on the season.
In doubles play, Katsiaryna Starastsenka and Kim Fenton secured the No. 1 singles win after calling the match 4-3 due to a URI injury. At No. 3, Ciara O'Toole and Aina Garriga secured the point defeating the Rams 6-2.
Starastsenka continued to dominate in singles play by claiming victory over her No. 1 opponent 6-1, 6-4. At No. 3 singles, Flavia Ramaldi secured the win with a 2-6, 7-6, 10-6 decision. Olivia Kharkover battled back after a setback in the first set to win 2-6,6-2, and 6-2. At No. 6, Ciara O'Toole secured the Pioneers win with a 6-4, 6-3 decision.
