Pioneers Pick Up Big Home Win Over LIU

O'Toole secures the win for SHU
TRUMBULL, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University women's tennis team improve their record to 13-3 after defeating the previous Northeast Conference champions, LIU, 4-3, Saturday evening.
In doubles play, Flavia Rambaldi and Vitalina Golod secured the No. 2 win in a 6-4 decision but the Pioneers were unable to secure the point at doubles.
In singles play, Golod secured her second win of the day at No. 2 in a 6-1, 6-4 decision to put the Pioneers on the board. At No. 3, Rambaldi battled through a tie in the first set and win the second to take the match 7-6 (3), 6-3. Aina Garriga battled past an early set back at No. 6 to defeat Katya Joryoliani 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. The match came down to Ciara O'Toole at No. 5 when she battled through for a 6-2, 6-7(4), 6-4 victory.
