Women’s Tennis Beats Merrimack in NEC Quarterfinal to Advance

Olivia Kharkover clinches the win for the Pios
WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – The Sacred Heart University women's tennis team defeated Merrimack College Friday evening at the Northeast Conference (NEC) Quarterfinals, 4-0. This is the third consecutive season that the Pioneers have advanced to the semifinals.
The Pioneers came out strong in doubles play securing the point to take an early 1-0 lead over the Warriors. Katsiaryna Starastsenka and Kim Fenton defeated the Warriors 6-2 at No. 1. Ciara O'Toole and Aina Garriga dominated at No. 3 with a 6-1 decision.
In singles play, Vitalina Golod defeated Caitlin McLoughlin 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2. Flavia Rambaldi dominated at No. 4 winning 6-0, 6-1. At No. 4, Olivia Kharkover secured the win for the Pioneers with a 6-0, 6-1 decision.
The Pioneers will face FDU tomorrow morning April 13th in the NEC Semifinal.
