Lim Claims Individual Title; SHU Ties for Second at NEC Championship

Lim broke the NEC Championship 54-hole record and won his second NEC medalist honor
PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – Marcus Lim won medalist honors to lead the Sacred Heart University men's golf team to a tie for second place at the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship, which wrapped up play on Sunday at Callaway Gardens Resort & Golf in Pine Mountain, Ga.
The Pioneers climbed one spot on the leaderboard Sunday with a three-over 291, the second-best round of the day. SHU tied LIU with a combined score of 871, carding rounds of 288, 292 and 291. Howard won the team title with a final score of 859 (-5).
Lim put the finishing touches on a wire-to-wire victory with a three-over 75 today, posting a combined score of eight-under 208 (65-68-75). Today marked the second NEC Championship medalist honor for Lim, who also did so in 2022. His eight-under-par score is a new 54-hole conference record, topping the previous mark of four-under.
Michael Rothberg placed next for the Pioneers in 11th. The sophomore finished the event with a three-over 219 (75-71-73), carding a one-over 73 in round three.
Eoin Freeman and Pablo Lacayo finished one stroke apart in the final standings, placing T17th and T20th, respectively. Freeman shot a second-consecutive round of two-over 74 to finish with an eight-over 224 (76-74-74). Lacayo ascended the leaderboard today with a three-under 69, the second-best round of the day, to finish with a nine-over 225 (72-84-69).
SHU's final competitor in round three was Jason Pelley, with a nine-over 81.
