Women's Golf Opens Rutgers Invitational in Fifth

El Chaib and Rouquette lead SHU in a tie for 10th
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Sacred Heart University women's golf team sits in fifth place after the first two rounds of the Rutgers Invitational, hosted Saturday by the Scarlet Knights at the Rutgers University Golf Course.
The Pioneers opened the day with a 307 (+23) before a round-two 305 (+21) for a 612 (+44). SHU is just two strokes behind fourth-place Dartmouth at 610 (+42), while everyone is looking up at leading Rutgers (586, +18).
The Pioneers are led by the duo of Chantal El Chaib and Margot Rouquette who are tied for 10th at 150 (+8). Both SHU standouts carded four-over 75's in the first two rounds today. Rouquette led her teammate with three birdies on the day to Rouquette's one.
Sacred Heart also saw Jensie Nicholas, Maya Robilio and Kailee Welch all finish within one stroke of each other. Nicholas led the trio in 28th with a 16-over 158 (82-76). Robilio (80-79) and Welch (79-80) tied for 29th with identical scores of 159 (+17).
Rounding out SHU's golfers today was Jessie Burch in a tie for 44th. Burch was at her best in round one with a four-over 75 before a second-round 85 (+14) settled her score for the day at 163 (+21).
Round three of the Rutgers Invitational is slated for tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m.
