
Women's Golf Wraps Up Rutgers Invite in Fifth

Chantal El Chaib climbed to fourth after strong round three
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Sacred Heart University women's golf team concluded play at the Rutgers Invitational in fifth place following round three on Sunday at the Rutgers University Golf Course in Piscataway, N.J.
The Pioneers tallied their best round of the tournament on Sunday with an 11-over 295. SHU finished the event with a 54-hole score of +55 907 (307-305-295). Sacred Heart was in a tight battle for second as they finished five strokes off runner-up status. UAlbany (+50) took second, while Dartmouth (+51) was third and Georgetown (+52) was fourth in a tightly-contested tournament. Rutgers won their home event at +24.
Chantal El Chaib led the Pioneers in fourth place after storming up the scoreboard with a one-under 70 today. She added today's round with her two 75's yesterday to finish with a combined score of 220 (+7). El Chaib has been on a tear of late, leading the team in three straight tournaments and having four rounds of 70 or lower in that period.
Margot Rouquette finished second for the Pios in T13th with a final score of 228 (+15). She carded a 78 today after back-to-back rounds of 75 yesterday.
Maya Robilio tied El Chaib with SHU's best round of the tournament with a one-under 70 this morning. She tallied four birdies in round four, finishing the event with a +16 229 (80-79-70), climbing 13 spots on the leaderboard today.
SHU's final three competitors today were Kailee Welch, Jensie Nicholas and Jessie Burch. Welch and Nicholas finished tied for 36th with final scores of 238 (+25). Burch tied for 42nd with a final tally of 240 (+27).
Today's round was SHU's final tune-up before the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship on Friday-Sunday, April 19-21, at the Callaway Resort & Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga.
