Men’s Tennis Gears up for 2025 Spring Season

Pioneers open home play against Stonehill on Feb. 1
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University men's tennis team is eager to begin their 2025 spring season. The Pioneers enter a new era of tennis as they compete in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
Schedule:
SHU's schedule is composed of 18 matches with nine at home and nine on the road. The Pios will face eight MAAC opponents, beginning against Rider on February 22nd at home.
The Pios open their season with three days straight of tennis action, beginning at Army on January 24th, St. Bonaventure at Army on the 25th, and at Brown on the 26th.
Home action is slated for February 1st as the Pioneers take on Stonehill at 5:30 p.m.
SHU will wrap up its season at Fairfield on April 19th. MAAC Championships are scheduled for April 26th and 27th.
Coach Mike Guastelle is looking forward to this year's competition.
"Both teams play a very competitive non-conference schedule to start of the season in late January and February as we prepare for our first season in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC)," said Guastelle. "Our goal is to finish in the top six of the conference so we can qualify for the MAAC Championships in late April. I'm really excited about both teams this year and feel we can make an immediate impact in our new league."

The Pioneers were selected seventh in the MAAC annual coaches preseason poll released on Wednesday morning.
