Pios earn their first win of the spring season
LAKE NONA, FLA - The Sacred Heart University Men's Tennis Team earned a strong 6-1 victory over Cedarville University on Tuesday morning at the USTA Campus.
The Pioneers set the tone early in doubles play, capturing the opening point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. The pairing of Tomasz Garbacz and Frederick McRae secured a tight 6-3 victory before Martin Macias and Vayo Rodriguez followed with a 6-2 win to clinch the doubles point.

Sacred Heart carried that momentum into singles competition, winning five of six matches to seal the team victory. Garbacz picked up a straight-set win at No. 1 singles, while Macias added another point for the Pioneers with a convincing 6-2 result at No. 3.
Additional victories came from Darren Huang, Connor Liona and Rodriguez, as Sacred Heart controlled the majority of the singles lineup to pull away from Cedarville and secure the 6-1 final.
The win is their first of the season as they try to carry the momentum into MAAC play when they next face Siena University on March 14th at 6:30 PM at the Tennis Club of Trumbull.
