Several strong performances from Pioneers
PHILADELPHIA – The Sacred Heart men's fencing team faced off against many of the top programs in the nation at the Philadelphia Invitational. Notre Dame, Penn, NJIT and UC San Diego were all ranked in the national coaches' poll.
The highlight of the day was a 16-11 victory over NJIT. In foil, David Belluomo and Chaissen Costello both went 3-0, and in epee David Bailey and Damien Nguyen were each undefeated.
Against seventh-ranked Penn, the foil squad posted a 6-3 victory. Costello, Belluomo and Jacob Bartel were all 2-1.
Against North Carolina, Belluomo was 2-1.
