
Women’s Fencing Opens Dual Meet Schedule at Vassar Invitational

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart women's fencing team opened up the dual meet portion of its schedule this past weekend at the Vassar Invitational. At the one-day event, the Pioneers dropped decisions to Wagner, Fairleigh Dickinson, Tufts, Wellesley, Hunter and Brown.
Leading the way for the Pioneers was sophomore Jess Murphy in Sabre where she picked up a pair of 3-0 sweeps which came against Hunter and Fairleigh Dickinson. Graduate student Nicole Dioh also had a strong showing in Epee where she finished with a 3-0 performance against Hunter, while discipline mate Grace Baranosky picked up two wins in Epee against Hunter.
Women's fencing will return to action once more in the calendar year with their lone home event of the year, the Tradition Meet on Saturday, December 6 at the William H. Pitt Center.
