Fairfield, Conn. – In her first full month back after a season-ending shoulder injury, senior goaltender
Jillian Petruno has been named the New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) Goaltender of the Month for October, the conference announced Wednesday.
Petruno earns her first Goaltender of the Month award since the 2023-24 season. In her first game back, she set the tone early with a standout performance at RPI, stopping 45 shots in a victory for the Pioneers. Remarkably, that wasn't even her season high. She went on to record 46 saves on the road at Stonehill on October 18, continuing her dominant return.
Overall, Petruno tallied 199 saves with a .948 save percentage and a 1.73 goals-against average, earning four wins in October. She will look to continue her dominant play as the Pioneers march into November.
