Phillips Wins MAAC Golfer of the Week Honors

The graduate student won the SHU Spring Break Invite last week
EDISON, N.J. – After earning a win at the SHU Spring Break Invitational, Ethan Phillips became the first golfer in Sacred Heart University men's golf history to be named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Golfer of the Week on Wednesday afternoon.
Phillips claimed his first medalist honor as a Pioneer on Thursday, Mar. 6, ended the 36-hole event with a score of 142 (-2). The Belleville, Ontario, native carded back-to-back rounds of one-under 71 to top the individual leaderboard by one stroke.
Phillips led the Pioneers to their second win of the season, as SHU tallied a team score of 596 (+20). Sacred Heart erased a six-stroke deficit to St. John's to win the team title by one stroke. The Pios defeated three MAAC schools at the tournament - Siena, Manhattan & Fairfield.
SHU will have off until the end of the month, when it heads to the Seattle U Redhawk Invitational on Monday-Tuesday, Mar. 31-Apr. 1.
