Archangelo secures pentathlon win
BOSTON, MA — The Sacred Heart track and field team continues their championship season at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) championships at the Reggie Lewis Center. Three individual Pioneers medaled along with two relay teams.
Madeline Archangelo was the lone gold medalist on the day after scoring 3697 in the pentathlon, outscoring the second place finisher by over 150 points. Fellow pentathlete Magdalena Brogioli followed close behind finishing in third. While the final individual medalist of the day, Grace Sousa, ran the fifth best time in program history in the 5k at 17:04.87 and secured a bronze medal.
As the relay teams, both the men's and women's distance medley team placed third. The men's quartet of Declan Toland, Ryan Jaipaul, Patrick Devine, and Harjaap Singh ran a time of 11:07.68. As for the women's quartet of Keegan Pepin, Ava Srinivasan, Emily Raymond, and Grace Del Giorno finished in 12:29.73.
At the end of the first day of competition, the men are currently in eleventh place and the women are in another close competition in second place, six points behind the University of New Hampshire.
The Pioneers are back in action tomorrow for the second day of competition at the New England Intercollegiate Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Mass.
