
Pioneers Earn Pair of MAAC Weekly Awards

Fairfield, Conn – The Sacred Heart University men's and women's track and field teams each earned a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) weekly award, the league announced on Tuesday. Ian Crowley was named Rookie of the Week, while Nyahingiva Musa earned Track Performer of the Week honors.
Crowley competed in the IC4A Championship decathlon this past weekend, becoming Sacred Heart's first-ever IC4A decathlon champion. He opened the competition by winning both the 100-meter dash and the long jump. Crowley went on to claim first place in the 110-meter hurdles, finish second in the 400-meter, and take third in both the shot put and javelin.
Musa opened her weekend with a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash, crossing the line in 11.70 seconds. She added two more points for the Pioneers with a seventh-place finish in the 200-meter. Musa capped off her day by anchoring the 4x100-meter relay team to a third-place finish, earning an additional six points for the Pios.

The Pioneers have a busy weekend ahead. They will open competition at the 130th Penn Relay Carnival, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania, on Thursday, April 23, and Friday, April 24. The team will then split up on Saturday, April 25, competing at both the Stonehill College Invitational and the Vassar College Invitational.
