Torrie Albini was recently named to the 2010-11 U.S.Women’s National Developmental Squad. She represented theCalifornia region at this year’s Women’s NationalChampionship in Virginia Beach, Va. and was the tournament’shigh scorer after netting an impressive eight goals in fivegames.
In the fall of 2008, while completing her degree in SportManagement at Ohio University, she served as an undergraduateassistant at her Alma Mater. She later returned home to Escondido,Ca. and coached both field hockey and basketball at her highschool. Albini also took over the Director of Coaches position forthe Wargles field hockey club program. She has also coached at thefutures level.
While at Ohio, Albini was both a three-time All-MAC selectionand MAC leading scorer who ranks second in career goals at Ohiowith 49 and fourth in career assists at 24. She also sits atop theseason assists record, which she tied in 2007 with 14. Albini ranksfourth for goals in a season with 20 and second for points in aseason with 54, both of which she set in 2007. Albini closed hercareer with 122 points, placing her second on Ohio's all-time list.Her senior season, Albini led the Nation in both goals scored andpoints scored with 20 and 54 respectively. Albini led her team toBack-to-back MAC Regular season and MAC Tournament Championshipsher junior and senior seasons, advancing to the NCAA tournament.She also picked up five MAC Offensive Player of the Week awards inher career. Albini led the Bobcats to a top-10 ranking nationallyaccording to NFHCA. The two-time MAC All-Tournament team member wasalso twice selected as an NFHCA All-West Region All-American andher senior year she garnered recognition as a Third-TeamAll-American and was selected to play in the 2007 NFHCA SeniorAll-Star Game.
