Men's Golf Takes 16th Place at Hartford Hawks Invitational

SOUTH KENT, Conn. – The Sacred Heart men's golf team finished the Hartford Hawks Invitational at Bull's Bridge Golf Club on Tuesday in 16th place.
The Pioneers were 12th after Monday's first round, posting a team score of 310 that was 22 strokes over par. Sacred Heart wrapped up the first day with a second round score of 321 to finish the day in 16th place after 36 holes. Tuesday's final round was the best team round for Sacred Heart, posting a team score of 308 (+20) to finish the tournament at +75. The Pioneers were one stroke behind UMass Lowell for 15th place.
Senior Sam Barber (North Bay, Ontario) and freshman Tom D'Andrea (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) tied for the Pioneers' lowest scores of the tournament with +17 233s, tying for 53rd place. Barber followed up a first round 77 (+5) with back-to-back rounds of 78. AJ Correia (Bedford, N.H.) finished the tournament in a tie for 70th at +22, carding the Pioneers' lowest round on Tuesday with a three-over 75. Matt Shubley (Whitby, Ontario) rounded out the scoring group with a three-round score of +26 over par, tying for 87th place.
Sacred Heart's next tournament is The MacDonald Cup, played at The Course at Yale October 4-5.
